Update: January 11, 2017:
Thank you for your continued interest and support of our lipidomics research application: VaLID!
We are now mirrored on two servers, hosted by Carleton Immersive Media Studios, and the University of Ottawa. Welcome!

VaLID is a web-based Java applet, and thus requires that Java is both installed and enabled in your web browser. The most recent Java update is suggested, and can be downloaded from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/index.html.

When VaLID first loads, you may see a pop-up warning asking you to accept the security certificate which we have created for the program. For some users, a security warning might appear when VaLID first loads, warning against running applications by unknown publishers. To use the program, you must accept the risk and then click the “Run” button. Accepting the risk allows VaLID to access its underlying database.

It is possible for some users to receive a message, which blocks VaLID from running, and says: “Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running. ” Make sure you have the latest version of Java installed. If updating Java to the most recent update does not fix this problem, it might be necessary to add VaLID to the exceptions site list. You can do this by opening the Java control panel, navigating to the “Security” tab, and adding “http://134.117.226.70:8888”, “http://www.neurolipidomics.ca/valid.html”, “http://www.neurolipidomics.com/valid/valid.html” and “https://www.med.uottawa.ca/valid/valid.html"” to the exceptions site list. Please visit http://www.java.com/en/download/help/jcp_security.xml for more information on how to access the Java Control Panel.

On Mac OS X, Chrome does not support Java 7/8. If you are using Mac OS X and Chrome, and VaLID does not work after updating your Java distribution, please try a 64-bit browser, such as Safari or Firefox.

Some users have reported difficulty accessing VaLID from Safari. If you are using Safari and experiencing problems, please try our mirror.

If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Sincerely,
The VaLID Team.
